Data and Smoke Alarms in New Orleans

New Orleans Fire Department had been installing smoke alarms in people’s homes for years, but they were looking for a more effective way to do it. By working in partnership with the city’s Office of Performance and Accountability, they were able to develop a more focused approach using publicly available data. Listen to Chief McConnell and Director Wise explain how they went from installing 800 smoke alarms to 18,000 using data.
