Data and Smoke Alarms in New Orleans

July 11, 2017 • Ed Comeau

New Orleans Fire Department had been installing smoke alarms in people’s homes for years, but they were looking for a more effective way to do it. By working in partnership with the city’s Office of Performance and Accountability, they were able to develop a more focused approach using publicly available data. Watch the video produced by the U.S. Census Bureau on this program New Orleans partnered with to help build this model.
