Discovery Data Hub – Non-Fire/EMS Incidents Per Capita

Funded by a grant from the FEMA Fire Prevention and Safety Grant Program

Because non-Fire/EMS incidents may go untracked when it comes to completing a Community Risk Assessment, focus is often placed on Fire & EMS incidents. However, there can be a significant impact on operational readiness for other call types that are often referred to as “busy calls.”  Discovery prioritizes these Non-Fire/EMS incidents to provide detail where a fire department may be focusing significant time.  Similar to the other maps within the Data Hub, users can drill down and click on State, County and Census Tract levels that provide information on the top Non-Fire/EMS incidents for the area selected as well as top actions taken and location type. Pop up dialogue boxes provide the data in an easy-to-use format to cut-and-paste it into your Community Risk Assessment document. It is important for organizations to understand where they are devoting their time within their jurisdiction and using CRR principles and practices to develop strategies and programming to “Get Ahead of the Call.”  The maps are also color coded to give you information on incident rates per capita which is a quick way to make geographic location comparisons.

Please be sure to read the FAQs that provide detailed information on browsers supported, performance, sourced data and methods to enhance the user experience.

By zooming in on this map below you can focus on a specific geographic area and by clicking on a census tract, you can get more data related to that area.
