(June 24, 2023) – Vision 20/20, a project of the Institution of Fire Engineers, USA Branch, dedicated to the principles and practices of Community Risk Reduction (CRR), is pleased to announce that it is selecting one fire department from across the nation to participate in an onsite CRR project. This project will work with fire department leaders to identify the fire and life safety risks in the community and develop a strategic plan to reduce those risks.
The fire department selected for this project will receive a comprehensive set of services, including:
- Data analysis: Vision 20/20 will work with the fire department to collect and analyze data on fire incidents, injuries, and fatalities. This data will be used to identify the most significant fire risks facing the community and create their Community Risk Assessment for the organization.
- Community engagement: Vision 20/20 will work with the fire department to engage with the community to understand their concerns about fire safety and prevention. A comprehensive review of the organizations current risk reduction programs will provide a baseline to incorporate model performance measurements to assess performance toward desired outcomes.
- Risk reduction plan: Vision 20/20 will work with the fire department to develop a comprehensive risk reduction plan. This plan will include a variety of strategies to reduce fire and other associated risk areas that are closely matched to their communities’ available resources.
- Organizational training and coaching: Vision 20/20 will provide training to the organization as well as coaching sessions for individuals interested building a stronger understanding of CRR and how that intersects with all disciplines within the fire service.
This project will provide the fire department with the tools and resources they need to create a safer, healthier, and more resilient community. It will also help to build a critical skillset for 21st Century Fire Service leaders by helping them understand data analysis, gain a deep understanding of their community, and create transferable skills within a learning organization.
The selected organization and this journey will be highlighted at Vision 20/20’s Model Performance in Community Risk Reduction Symposium 8, February 20-22, 2024, at the Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro, TN. The organization will receive 2 free conference registrations for Symposium 8.
