Vision 20/20 is a project of the Institution of Fire Engineers - USA Branch

S7 will be my third and I couldn’t be more excited about coming together with like minded passionate CRR professionals from around the country. I left S6 energized and inspired to take what I learned through the presentations and seminars back to my community and look forward to the same again at S7.

The symposium is an opportunity to to share ideas and listen to colleagues experiences so that I become a better CRR advocate.

To help safeguard those attending Symposium 7, everyone must read and acknowledge the following COVID-19 policy that outlines our recommendations. As community risk reduction professionals, we are committed to working to reduce the risk to everyone so that we can hold a safe and productive event. Thank you for being a part and helping us!

Model Performance in Community Risk Reduction Symposium

COVID-19 policy, protocols and event waiver

Vision 20/20 is committed to your health and safety during our Model Performance in Community Risk Reduction Symposium to be held at the Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro, TN from February 22-24, 2022.   While the situation with the novel coronavirus continues to be fluid, we are working with the hotel to provide a clean and safe environment for all attendees.  We will continue to monitor the guidance from the Tennessee Department of Health and the CDC to make appropriate decisions and changes to protocols right up to the start of and during the event.

Vision 20/20 would like to highlight the following guidance from the CDC to take precautions against COVID-19.

  • If you are not vaccinated, consider getting a vaccine and/or booster to reduce your risk of becoming ill with significant symptoms
  • Wear a mask to limit your exposure to not only the novel coronavirus but other airborne respiratory ailments that include influenza and the common cold
  • Social distance where appropriate to limit the spread of the virus
  • To help prevent the spread through contact, wash hands frequently for 20 seconds using hot water and use hand sanitizer where appropriate. While it may have been many months since you have seen your peers from other locales, rather than close personal contact, consider tapping elbows to limit transmission of the virus through contact.
  • If you have a fever or other symptoms, get tested to see if you have the virus and complete the proper isolation if you have positive results

During the Symposium we ask that you strongly consider this guidance to protect yourself and others from unwanted transmission of all COVID-19 and other respiratory ailments.

Assumption of the Risk, Hold Harmless, Release and Waiver of Liability Agreement Relating to Coronavirus/COVID-19 & other communicable diseases

I acknowledge and understand the following:

I agree, understand, and acknowledge, that an inherent risk of exposure to the disease COVID-19 (as defined by the World Health Organization and any strains, variants, or mutations thereof) and SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that can cause COVID-19) (collectively, “COVID-19”), and any other communicable or infectious disease, exists in any public place where people are present. “Communicable disease” means any disease or illness caused by microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, parasites, or fungi that can be spread, directly or indirectly, from one person to another. “Infectious disease” means any disease or illness caused by microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, parasites, or fungi that enter the body, multiply, and can cause an infection. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious communicable disease that can lead to severe illness and death.

No precautions can eliminate the risk of exposure to COVID-19, and the risk of exposure applies to everyone. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”), older adults (people 65 years and older) and people of any age who have underlying medical conditions might be at higher risk for severe illness and death from COVID-19.

I also acknowledge that the risk of exposure to COVID-19 and any other communicable or infectious disease includes the risk that you will expose others that you later encounter, even if you are not experiencing or displaying any symptoms of illness.

I acknowledge and agree to voluntarily assume any and all risks in any way related to exposure to COVID-19 and any other communicable or infectious disease, including illness, injury, or death of yourself or others.

You acknowledge that your participation in the Model Performance in Community Risk Reduction Symposium is entirely voluntary. By participating in this event you attest you are knowledgeable about your individual risk of developing severe illness if you are infected with COVID-19 or other communicable or infectious disease; you have made an informed decision about participating based on your individual risk; and you have decided whether to consult with a health care provider based on your individual risk.

Our goal is to have a safe event for all our attendees and we ask that you model the tenants of risk reduction to help everyone stay healthy.
